Titane: A metal highly resistant to heat and corrosion, with high tensile strength alloys.

Buckle up for this one! Art for Blind presents a slice of extreme cinema from French provocateur Julia Ducournau with her second feature and surprise Palme d’Or winner Titane.

Alexia, played by newcomer Agathe Rouselle, plys her trade as an erotic dancer at motor shows. A childhood car accident has left her with a titanium plate in her head and an unusual fetish for cars. An unexpected pregnacy is the catalyst for a murder spree, forced into hiding, her path takes her to Vincent (French veteran and A-lister Vincent Lindon), the chief of a firefighting unit and father who’s griefstricken from the disappearance of his son years earlier.

“Gender fluidity, familial subversion, techno-sexual delirium and full-on violence take Titane (French for titanium) into the far reaches of genre futurism, with Ruben Impens’ cinematography pushing a trash-pulp aesthetic to a hyper-sophisticated new level.” - Jonathan Romney.

This event is part of Out of Step, a film and music weekender curated by Art for Blind as part of their residency at The Model Sligo and funded by the Arts Council.
