"[...] one of Australia’s rising stars. Born in jazz, this trio redefines the idiom within 21st century art music frameworks" - JOLT Arts

"Exploration full of guts [...] May their creativity never stop!" - BUSET Magazine

Melbourne-based improv trio Impermanence traverse form and genre.

The ancient and the modern, tradition and invention coalesce through the group's unique instrumentation:

Bianca Gannon (IRE) // simultaneous mixed gamelan + piano

Josh Holt // double bass + bass guitar

Elliott Hughes // trumpet + augmented trumpet

Neo-classical and jazz references with ritualistic rhythms and a glitchy new music edge flow freely in their seemingly through-composed long-form free improvisations.

Ethereal lyricism layered with pulsating difference tones, unique timbres, orchestral textures and extended harmonies resonate in an expansive timelessness.

This unprecedented improvised synthesis is seamlessly unified by this trio who are all composers in their own right.
