Junior Academy Director of First String Experience

The Royal Academy of Music is hiring a part-time Director of First String Experience (FSE) – a long-established first access musicianship and bowed string teaching programme for 4 to 7 year olds. The purpose of the post is to provide leadership, to devise and adapt the curriculum, to ensure the smooth day to day running of the programme, to contribute to the recruitment and training of FSE fellows and to represent the programme more widely through presentations and student seminars.

You will also be responsible for managing and developing a new initiative - Community First Strings Experience - which will take the FSE programme into two London based primary schools from September 2021. This will either be 1.5 or 2 days per week, and will be confirmed at the interview.

To be successful in this role you will be an exceptional and experienced teacher, with a primary school background and with a strong instrumental specialism on Stringed instruments. You will have strong communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to motivate and inspire students from all backgrounds.
