Relationship Manager – Children, Young People and Learning

Monday, 5 October 2020, 11.00pm

Arts Council England is looking for an enthusiastic advocate of culture and creativity to fill the role of Relationship Manager, Children and Young People in the Midlands area team.

This role would typically be based in the Nottingham office and will involve working across the Midlands. However, at present, Arts Council staff are working from home as a result of Covid-19.

The Relationship Manager will be part of both the Midlands Area team and the national Children and Young People team and will contribute to the shaping and delivery of Arts Council’s work across the Midlands.

In this role, you will manage a portfolio of organisations which may include National Portfolio organisations, Bridge organisations and Music Education Hubs. This will include monitoring delivery of their business plan, their funding agreement with Arts Council England, and of their artistic and cultural programme.

The role may also include monitoring and supporting specific projects supported by our development funds, such as Creative People and Places.

You will also advise on and assess funding applications from individual artists, organisations, companies and communities.

Key requirements:
You will have specific knowledge of cultural education and arts and cultural activity by, with and for children and young people, along with a good understanding of the cultural sector in England and of the current challenges and opportunities facing it. You’ll also have excellent skills in collaboration, influencing and advocacy, with the ability to work both independently and as part of a team.

The successful candidate will also have significant experience of engaging with arts and cultural organisations. You will need a good understanding of organisational dynamics including business planning, financial reporting, performance management and governance. With a diverse portfolio of external partner relationships to maintain, you will be self-reliant and enjoy both frequent travel and meeting new people. Experience of working with local authority and other strategic partners would also be an advantage.

If you would like an informal conversation about the role, please contact Hugh James, Senior Relationship Manager at hugh.james [at] artscouncil.org.uk.

Please note that as Arts Council staff are currently working from home, interviews will take place virtually in October/November 2020.
