Four Coventry women, four different stories, a common need for connection. HER DAY shines a spotlight on the lives of ordinary local women engaged in everyday acts of peaceful protest.

This new female-led opera by Coventry-based Sayan Kent and Vanessa Oakes, brings together director Lucy Bradley (Royal Opera House, OperaUpClose, Glyndebourne) and music director Berrak Dyer (Royal Opera House, Opera Holland Park, The Opera Story). Set in a women’s friendship group, HER DAY will include a community chorus of local female singers led by Mariana Rosas (Colla Voce Chamber Choir and Birmingham City Council Choir) performing alongside professional singers and musicians. The cast includes: Nina Bennett, Kelly Glyptis, Grace Nyandoro and Claire Wild.

Supported using public funding by the National Lottery through Arts Council England, Spirit of 2012 through Coventry UK City of Culture and Heart of England Community Foundation.
