Whenyoung is a band hailing from Clare and Limerick, based in the UK. The band members were brought up with a wide range of musical influences from Irish traditional music to 00’s pop, eventually discovering their love for punk and rock music. This shared passion brought the band together and led them to move to London to start their musical career.

Originally formed as Sisters in 2013 with Niall, the band later changed their name to Whenyoung in 2016. The band signed with Virgin EMI and UMP in 2017 and went on extensive tours and performed at several festivals, supporting various artists such as Nick Cave, The Pogues, and Blossoms. In 2019, the band released their debut album, which received support from BBC Radio 1, and they performed two Maida Vale sessions for Huw Stephens and Jack Saunders.

In 2020, the band re-established themselves with a new sound, fewer members, a new label, and a new team, while also overcoming personal challenges such as Aoife’s broken jaw. During this time, they recorded a significant amount of work with producer Gethin Pearson, and their sophomore album is scheduled for release in 2023 on US indie label Antifragile Music and UMP.

Besides their band work, Aoife and Andrew are also interested in co-writing with other artists and exploring various forms of art, including film, fashion, and design. They believe in adding identity and narrative to their music through film and photography, creating moods and exploring visual elements as an integral part of the process in connecting with their audience.
