The Big Sing: A Shared Celebration

The Big Sing: A Shared Celebration

Sunday, 9 June 2019, 3.00pm

This event celebrates the 'Song Seeking' project, an intergenerational singing initiative within Direct Provision Centres funded through Creative Ireland. The celebration will include a new choral commission from Sean Doherty, group singing workshops and participatory performances.

Song Seeking is a group singing research project funded by Creative Ireland under the National Creativity Fund. The project is led by Dr Ailbhe Kenny and has involved a cross-agency collaboration between Mary Immaculate College (MIC), Sing Ireland (SI) and the Irish Refugee Council. Across six direct provision (DP) centres, the project involves intergenerational group singing workshops, shared ‘SingIn’ days with local choirs and a new choral commission, to be performed at the National Concert Hall.
