The first guitarist to be selected for the BBC Radio 3 New Generation Artists scheme has become a regular performer at Wigmore Hall. His French programme is full of dances, and includes three short pieces by the self-styled ‘gymnopédiste’ Erik Satie, a selection of works compiled by Paris-based 16th-century publisher Pierre Attaingnant, and Ravel’s 1899 Pavane for a Dead Princess which, despite the composer’s attempts to distance himself from it, remains one of his most popular works.
