The Board of Trustees of The Conservatoire is looking for an Executive Director to lead the team into a new wider strategy, with a particular focus on growing revenue streams to further our charitable objectives and ensuring that processes and systems are robust and efficient, whilst preserving the high quality arts educational offer and the unique, fun and creative character of The Conservatoire. They will be hands on and enjoy interacting with our customers, tutors and the local community.

They will report to the Board of Trustees and will work alongside both our highly experienced Finance Director and Artistic Director.

Key responsibilities will include (but are not limited to):
– Effective leadership and management of the small staff and our talented freelance tutors
– Working with the Board of Trustees to identify and implement a long term strategy with a focus on creativity, generating long term income and expanding our charitable aims
– Continually improving our educational offer, focusing on customer satisfaction, to increase student numbers
– Upgrading systems, controls and processes to improve efficiency, including implementing an online booking system
– Expanding our fundraising initiatives
– Focus on governance and compliance with relevant regulations including safeguarding responsibilities

The ideal applicant will be an experienced manager with substantive operational experience, who is collaborative, conscientious and engaged. The applicant must have:
– Strong leadership qualities
– Solid commercial and financial capabilities
– Proven business planning and management skills
– Experience of overseeing a range of operational activities and an eye for detail and process management
– Excellent interpersonal and people management skills
– Good IT literacy
– Experience of working in the arts and/or charity sector is preferred but not essential.
