Royal Irish Academy of Music / Young Artists concert

Royal Irish Academy of Music / Young Artists concert

Saturday, 25 March 2023, 7.30pm

The Royal Irish Academy of Music, in association with the Office of Public Works, is delighted to have the opportunity to present this showcase concert at Farmleigh House, featuring students from the Young Artist Programme. The Young Artists are high-potential students from Junior RIAM who have expressed an interest in pursuing music at third level and entering the profession.

This concert features instrumentalists from the Keyboard, Strings and Wind, Brass, and Percussion faculties, with students performing short solo works accompanied by Dearbhla Brosnan on piano. Included in the programme are Sarah Brazil (violin), Simon Carey (clarinet), Juliette Carol-Been (piano), Adam Joyce (cello), Kian Lee (violin), Lera O’Conor (flute), Malcolm O’Loughlin (marimba), Lizzie Troup (cello), Marguerite Troup (trumpet) and Anna Varga (cello).

The benefit to these student musicians of playing on stage in the Ballroom of Farmleigh House, at this very early time in their careers, is that it gives them an invaluable experience in their public performing lives of appearing in front of a deeply appreciative and encouraging audience. This opportunity helps to set going the professional future fortunes of these amazingly talented individuals.

This year’s presentation at Farmleigh of the Young Artist Programme concert celebrates the 175th anniversary of the founding of the Royal Irish Academy, by Francis and Joseph Robinson, John Smith, Samuel Pigott, Charles Graves and John Stanford, amongst others, which first opened its doors on the 1st March 1848.

Tickets for this very special concert, at €17 including booking fee, will be on sale through www.eventbrite.ie from Monday 20th February 2023.

Doors open at 7.30pm for an 8pm concert start.

Attendees who are expecting to take a taxi home after the concert are advised to book one in advance for no later than 10pm.
