BBC Audio is seeking a Content Assistant who shares a passion for radio and youth culture to work across the BBC’s three youth-focused networks, BBC Asian Network, BBC Radio 1 and 1Xtra. The successful applicant will work as a member of the production team, providing administrative and creative support as required to create top-quality content for the audience. The role will provide the opportunity to work with producers and assistant producers across Radio 1, 1Xtra or the Asian Network, with the possibility of rotation across the stations.

BBC Audio is responsible for producing podcasts, radio, and music programs, live events, and creative services. They are the primary suppliers of daytime and evening programmes across Radio 1, 1Xtra, and Asian Network, with popular shows such as Radio 1 Breakfast with Greg James, Going Home with Vick and Jordan, Future Sounds with Clara Amfo, R1 Dance Party with Danny Howard, 1Xtra Breakfast with Nadia Jae, Remi Burgz, DJ Target, Snoochie Shy, and Asian Network Breakfast with Nikita Kanda.

The ideal candidate for the role will have a strong interest and passion for Radio 1, 1Xtra, or BBC Asian Network and the music and culture celebrated on those stations. This position is ideal for someone interested in building a career in radio content production who can demonstrate an interest in the field. Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail, particularly with written material and images, are also essential, as is the ability to work proactively and communicate effectively within a team. Additionally, the successful candidate will have good online literacy and be enthusiastic about the latest technologies and content formats, including social media.

The position may be based in London, Salford or Birmingham, with rotation across the stations possible. The role will enable the candidate to familiarise themselves with the process of commissioning, producing, and delivering content on a large scale and work towards future progression into content production roles.
