Enjoy a theatrical and music experience with Irish Chamber Orchestra as renowned actor, Stephen Brennan reads from Mozart’s entertaining correspondence interspersed with music from Mozart’s travels. Mozart spent ten of his thirty-five years travelling! We join a 14-year-old composer’s 15-month tour of Italy with his father, Leopold. In Milan, Mozart experienced his first opera success with Mitridate! Italian Minuets proved inspirational for Mozart, as István Várdai and ICO showcase Boccherini’s String Quintet in E Major, Op.11 No.5, lauded for its celebrated Minuet. Rome inspired Mozart’s Symphony No. 45 which brims with youthful vitality.

In later life, Mozart and family travelled to the Czech Republic where Prague was the catalyst for his bright and boisterous Prague Symphony with its beautiful Andante. It was there that he befriended the brilliant cellist and composer, Anton Kraft. Their celebrated Dresden performance of Kraft’s concerto was lauded by critics, even Beethoven. István Várdai and ICO ignite this Kraft Concerto in this wonderful pot-pourri of music and words.
