Niwel Tsumbu’s virtuoso jazz guitar abilities and Éamonn Cagney’s blistering solo djembe draw both on Congolese roots and modern influences. They perform in a double-header with local jazz ensemble Electric Orfeo. Combining Sam Barkers’s post-bop, funk jazz guitar excursions with Stephen McGrath’s fretboard-traversing, effects-driven bass-playing & Gev Barrett’s laidback multilingual grooves.

Built on 15 years of constant collaboration, Niwel Tsumbu and Éamonn Cagney are known for their incredible musical chemistry and exciting, joyous performances. Besides their duo music, they have worked in traditional Irish, Jazz, world, contemporary, electronic, opera, soundtracks, dance and countless other musical forms.

Niwel Tsumbu and Éamonn Cagney have toured their explosive live show nationally and internationally throughout 2018. Audiences have been absolutely enthralled with their performances and music on this latest tour, and their busy concert schedule has brought them to many selected venues and festivals both nationally and internationally.

The duo has been uplifting audiences for over a decade, and they have made many recordings and videos, with continuous appearances on national and international media.

Expect a highly engaging concert, both intimate and elaborate, a musical river whose sources range from classical to Central Africa, with pulsating rhythms, wild guitar solos and so much more.

Electric Orfeo are an amalgam of influences jazz, funk, metal, rock, swing & a thousand other musical tributaries. Combining Sam Barkers's post bop, funk jazz guitar excursions with Stephen McGrath's fretboard traversing effects driven bass playing & Gev Barrett's laid back multilingual grooves.

Electric Orfeo aim to bring you from the centre of jazz to yet unexplored improvisational musical horizons.
