Wednesday, 21 April 2021, 1.00pm

The collaboration between Music for Galway and NUI Galway Arts in Action continues with a concert presenting a truly stellar cast: mezzo-soprano Tara Erraught has been described as having a rich, radiant voice, expansive range and dynamic stage presence. Those qualities have brought her to tread the stages of Irish National Opera, the Metropolitan Opera in New York, the Staatsoper Berlin, Carnegie Hall, Glyndebourne Festival Opera and the Bavarian State Opera in Munich to name but a few. She has sung operatic roles such as Angelina in La Cenerentola, Despina in Così fan tutte and Annius in La clemenza di Tito alongside Joyce DiDonato and Rolando Villazon. Kown as a nuanced and insightful performer, she has also been invited to numerous lieder recitals around the world.

Her partner for many of those has been Dearbhla Collins, one of Ireland’s finest pianists. She is most well known as a song pianist and performs recitals with singers such as Benjamin Appl, Patricia Bardon and Tara Erraught. She also regularly works with Dame Ann Murray and Brigitte Fassbaender. As well as being vocal coach at the RIAM, she has recently been appointed Assistant Head of Music at the National Opera Studio, London. She has also coached in the Universität für Musik, Vienna, in Zurich and the Beijing Central Conservatory. She is the founder and Artistic Director of Dublin Song Series which puts on song recitals in Dublin at the National Concert Hall and the Hugh Lane Municipal Art Gallery. She is also Artistic Administrator of the Veronica Dunne International Singing Competition.
