Alto Vacancy

Thursday, 2 June 2022, 5.00pm

Chamber Choir Ireland will hold in-person Dublin auditions with Artistic Director Paul Hillier on Monday 20 June 2022 to fill an Alto contract position.

Chamber Choir Ireland is the country’s flagship choral ensemble under the Artistic Direction of the internationally celebrated and multi-award-winning choral conductor, Paul Hillier. CCI’s repertoire spans from early music through to contemporary works with a substantial proportion of its work dedicated to new music. A typical working week/project is 20-25 hours of rehearsal with performances both nationally and internationally, and an average of 10 projects per year. CCI’s singers therefore have a very high musicianship standard, extensive professional singing experience, and the capacity to cover a wide-range of difficult repertoire in very short rehearsal periods.

Applications will only be considered from professional singers who can fulfil the above requirements, or those who are embarking on a professional singing career with demonstrable professional choral singing experience.

To apply for shortlisting, please submit the following:

- A short recording of you performing solo repertoire either with keyboard accompaniment or unaccompanied;
- A detailed biography (1-side A4) that outlines music education, professional choral experience, and current professional singing commitments;
- The names of two referees who can detail your professional choral experience or choral music education.

Deadline for submission of applications: Thurs 2 June 2022 at 5pm
All material should be submitted to David Darcy: [email protected]

Applications will be short-listed based on demonstrating their performance experience and skill through the submitted recording and biography, and only those on the shortlist will be invited to audition.

Audition requirements: Shortlisted candidates are requested to bring two contrasting pieces from two different periods and in two different languages. One or both may be heard, depending on time, and there may also be other short musical tests.

An accompanist will be available for all auditions.
