The Hallé’s archive documents the 164-year history of the orchestra, its place in Manchester’s heritage and that of 19th & 20th century music. The collection includes letters, music, programmes, sound recordings, photographs and other printed material.

As a project over the next two years, the main objective is to explore how the collections can be used to enable a wider range of people to learn about the orhcestra’s heritage. Hallé St Peter’s offers additional scope to welcome visitors and test out a range of activities.

Thus, the Hallé is looking for an enthusiastic, experienced archives professional to work alongside the current archive team. Experience in engaging with different users and other stakeholders will be invaluable. Excellent communication skills are essential.
