HMDT Music seeks an experienced Accompanist/Repetiteur to join the team of its I Can Sing! Music Theatre School for its 2019-20 Season, starting January 2020. I Can Sing! Performing Arts is part of HMDT Music’s Saturday Programme, which enriches the lives of young people through high quality, exciting music making opportunities. I Can Sing! offers students the opportunity to experience the joy of music theatre and opera performance, with classes in dance, drama/stagecraft and singing, as well as classes that combine all these disciplines together. Repertoire includes HMDT Music’s own opera and music theatre commissions as well as music from the Broadway tradition.

The Accompanist/Repetiteur’s role is to accompany and rehearse students (ages 9-15) in music theatre and opera excerpts, leading to showings and performances in collaboration with HMDT Music’s Creative Director and a team of Conductor, Stage Director and Choreographer. You should have experience of and enjoy working with young people ideally in a music theatre or opera context and be an excellent pianist, able to arrange, improvise and transpose music if required. The role might also include piano lessons and aural preparation for ABRSM exams.

The role involves working on Saturdays from 9:00am, for approximately 5.25 hours, for 30 weeks each academic year (20 weeks between 11 January – 11 July 2020 for the remainder of this academic year), in Hackney.
