About the RDS
The RDS is a philanthropic organisation which, since its establishment in 1731, has helped Ireland to thrive culturally and economically. The RDS has a number of income streams which support this mission, including Membership and Fundraising. The RDS currently has around 3,000 Members in its database, some of whom are philanthropic donors of the Foundations programmes in areas such as Arts, Agriculture, Enterprise, Equestrian and Science.

About the Role
Reporting to the Deputy Chief Executive - Foundation, the Arts Programme Manager will lead the development and delivery of the RDS Arts Programme working collaboratively within the wider Foundation Team and across other cross-functional teams in the RDS. The Arts Programme Manager will have proven skills and experience in developing strategy in a cultural context, managing people, events, change & projects, communications, relationship building and stakeholder management, budget management and strong organisational and administrative skills to lead the development and delivery of the RDS Arts Programme.

Key Responsibilities

Strategy Development & Delivery: The RDS is in the process of developing an ambitious new Foundation Programme in line with its new organisational strategy. The Arts Programme Manager will create a clear strategic plan for the development of the RDS Arts Programme, that aligns with the overarching strategy for the RDS and develop and deliver on that plan.

Delivery of Existing Arts Programme: Lead on the resource allocation, planning, management, administration, delivery, communication, design and evaluation of the RDS Arts Programme to a very high standard. The programme currently includes three national competitions and associated exhibitions, concerts, mentoring and a range of other opportunities provided for our winning artists by external partner organisations.

Leadership & Management: Manage the full time Arts Executive reporting to this position, providing leadership, clear objectives and sustain high levels of performance through feedback, coaching and creating skills development.

Communications: Take responsibility for all communications relating to the RDS Arts Programme. Oversee the production of written, photographic and video content for RDS communications and social media. Engage and manage external PR consultant as required.

Creative collaboration: Connect and collaborate with the RDS Arts Committee with the aim of generating suitable ideas for arts activities and creative partnerships.

Represent RDS: Represent the RDS at meetings, conferences, events, networking opportunities and seminars as required.

Other duties: as required and requested by Line Manager.

• Wide network of contacts in the cultural sector.

• Ability to prioritise workload and meet tight deadlines.

• Flexible, adaptable and personable with a willingness to take on additional duties as required.

• Commitment to the mission and objectives of the RDS.

Skills
• Excellent leadership, management and project management skills with strong attention to detail

• Excellent communication skills – written, and verbal.

• Experience in developing and delivering strategy

• Excellent customer/stakeholder care.

• Strong teamwork skills, and ability and willingness to work with different colleagues on projects as required.

• Strong Problem Solving & Analytical Skills.

• Strong IT skills (MS Office, website & database management)
Experience

• 5 years’ experience working within an arts/cultural environment

• Masters qualification in arts/cultural management

Salary range - 50,000 - 55,000 depending on experience
