Saturday, 23 April 2022, 8.00pm

Music for Wexford will celebrate almost thirty years of staging classical music with its first concert on Saturday evening (April 23) at Johnstown Castle.
The programme, Music for String Quartet and Harp, will be presented at the Visitors' Centre, Johnstown Castle, in association with Musici Ireland, the female led chamber collective known for its interesting and evocative programmes.
Since 1993, Music for Wexford has presented an annual series of recitals by both Irish and international musicians, with a special emphasis in promoting young musicians and singers at the start of their careers. Founded in 2012, Musici Ireland consists of a core of musicians who collaborate with nationally and internationally celebrated musicians.
The concert at Johnstown Castle, which starts at 8 p.m. and which will be recorded by Lyric FM, will feature the Musici Ireland String Quartet: Mia Cooper, Lidia Jewloszewicz-Clarke, (violins), Beth McNinch (viola) and Katie Tertell (cello), with Dianne Marshall on harp. The programme is Rebecca Clarke: Poem for String Quartet; Siobhan Cleary: Pipoon (for cello and harp); Valentin Silverstrov: Ikon; Caplet: Le Masque de la Mort Rouge, for harp and string quartet; Jessie Montgomery: Source Code and Arnold Bax: Quintet for Harp and String.
