The Hallé’s archive documents the 164-year history of the orchestra, its place in Manchester’s heritage and that of 19th & 20th century music. The collection includes letters, music, programmes, sound recordings, photographs and other printed material.

As a project over the next two years, the main objective is to explore how the collections can be used to enable a wider range of people to learn about the orchestra’s heritage. Hallé St Peter’s offers additional scope to welcome visitors and test out a range of activities. The team will be planning a range of talks, exhibitions and other events alongside a programme of volunteer opportunities.

The Project Manager is responsible for overall management of the project and its outcomes including the budgeting and reporting. They need to be highly organised, with good people skills. Experience of managing and working with volunteers will be an advantage.
