Inspirations: Padraic Keane and Séan McKiernan

Friday, 15 October 2021, 8.00pm

We are delighted the Inspirations concert series at glór this Autumn resumes, curated by music broadcaster Paula Carroll. The theme is inspiration, mentorship and the acquiring of tradition. Young traditional musicians have been invited to select another musician who has been an influence on them and to perform a concert together. You may expect new insights, plenty of exchange and conversation as well as great music.

Friday 15th Oct: Padraic Keane (piper), Seán McKiernan (piper)

Piper Pádraic Keane was recognised for his brilliance at a very young age and awarded the TG4 Young Musician of the Year award in 2011. He comes from a family music dynasty that stretches from London to Galway and Waterford but has its origins with his grandfather, piper Tommy McCarthy, in West Clare. Pádraic’s influence is the Connemara piper Seán McKiernan. Born in Boston, Seán started piping there before returning to live in Ireland at a young age. He has been a lecturer at Cork School of Music and an important influence on a generation of young pipers around Ireland.
