Starting with "The Alcotts", which Ives described as "the impression of the spirit of transcendentalism", we immediately enter the world of the intangible. Field, the father of the nocturne, was an enormous influence on Chopin, Rachmaninov and all others who wrote in this form thereafter. To finish, Schumann's Kreisleriana, dedicated to Chopin, a series of 8 fantasy pieces inspired by an eccentric, wild and witty conductor.
