Head of Strings and William Lawes Chair in Chamber Music

The Royal Academy of Music is hiring a a new Head of Strings and William Lawes Chair in Chamber Music. The successful applicant should have the vision and ability to undertake the leading role in sustaining and developing the outstanding educational and artistic successes of the Strings Department while providing creative and stimulating leadership to students and teaching staff.

You will be a musician of the highest calibre, with an outstanding reputation as a performer and teacher and have a high profile within the music industry. In addition, you will have the potential for charismatic leadership, working closely with the department’s team of world-class musicians and teachers to develop the educational experience of students. You will also work closely with the Deputy Principal and other heads of departments to enhance the artistic and educational work of the Academy in solo, chamber music and orchestral performance.

You will also be an effective advocate externally for the department and the Academy within both the music profession and the music education sector.
