Opera Projects and Production Award

The Opera Projects and Production award is intended to support initiatives by professional practitioners to develop and present opera in three distinct stages. The first (strand one) is for early stage development by creative artists of new operatic work, without a requirement to present it publicly in whole or in part. The second (strand two), is designed to support development and/or presentation of new work- in-progress, or concert opera presentations / recordings, or full productions of smaller –scale works. The third (strand three) is designed to fund fully staged productions of complete works.

Note: Applicants seeking support to tour productions of previously staged work should apply to the Touring and Dissemination of Work scheme, which is open to opera touring.

There are three bands of funding available corresponding to the three strands of the Opera Projects and Production Award:

Strand 1: Opera Projects: Development: up to a maximum of €20,000
Strand 2: Opera Projects: Developmental Presentation and smaller scale full production: up to a maximum of €110,000
Strand 3: Opera Production: up to a maximum of €450,000
