Sunday, 1 December 2019, 7.00pm

Music Generation Waterford is delighted to present a ‘A Celebration of Irish Traditional Music’ in St. Patrick’s Gateway Centre on Sunday 1st December at 7.00pm. The evening will feature performances from upcoming young traditional musicians from across Waterford City and County alongside special guests Waterford based harpist Jill Devlin and whistle player Toni Doran.

Music Generation Intermediate & Senior Traditional Ensembles were formed in January 2019, consisting of the highly skilled young musicians in the field of traditional music aged 18 years and under. Lead by local musicians Nóra Kavanagh, Eoin O’Meachair and Anthony Roche, you will be sure to experience a dynamic programme celebrating Traditional Irish Music from a 21st Century perspective. The young musicians have performed on several occasions, most recently the senior ensemble returned from Creative Connexions Festival in Sitges Spain where they premiered a new work called ‘The Colour of Warmth’ funded by Music Generation/Arts Council partnership. Both ensembles have worked with a number of well-known traditional musicians including Benny McCarthy, Siobhan Buckley, Conor Arkins and Martin Tourish to name a few.
