FUEL: Open Call for Theatre Artists
Druid Theatre announces applications for FUEL 2024, a nine-month artist residency programme at The Mick Lally Theatre in Galway. This initiative targets theatre-makers based in the West of Ireland, aiming to support the creative development process.
FUEL 2024 offers participants workshops with theatre professionals, development and rehearsal periods in The Mick Lally Theatre, engagement with Druid’s artistic programme, and opportunities to showcase their work. Additionally, participants receive guidance in producing, finance, marketing, and touring, alongside assistance in funding and festival applications. Successful applicants will receive a fee totalling approximately €2,000 for contact days within the programme.
Open to playwrights, directors, and theatre-makers, applicants must be based in Galway, Mayo, Roscommon, Clare, Longford, Leitrim, or Sligo. A requirement includes a fleshed-out original idea or draft script and the ability to form a creative team. Applicants should demonstrate commitment to theatre, independence in work, and an understanding of the FUEL programme.
Applications must be submitted via an audio file, video file, or a written form by 5pm on Friday, 24 November 2023. Druid staff and an independent assessor will review submissions, and all applicants will receive updates by 4 December 2023. The programme runs from January to September 2024.
