For the final Maynooth University lunchtime concert of 2021-22, soprano Megan O'Neill is joined by pianist Andrew Synnott to perform a recital of songs by Clara Schumann, Amy Beach, and Anna Pigdorna.

A BMus graduate of Maynooth, Megan O'Neill is a student in the Doctor of Music Performance programme at the Royal Irish Academy of Music. She recently won the Gervase Elwes Memorial Cup at the 2022 Feis Ceoil, and awarded the Eamon Kelly Bursary by Kerry County Council. Megan played the role of 'Teen Polar Bear' in The Scorched Earth Trilogy by Brian Irvine and John McIlduff, a video opera produced by Irish National Opera and Dumbworld, and this summer she will be playing the title role in Cinderella by Alma Deutscher at Wexford Festival Opera. Megan also performs the lead role of Jane in the film opera DreamCatchr by Kevin O'Connell, which will be released shortly.

Andrew Synnott is artist in residence and chorus master of Wexford Festival Opera. He has conducted operas for Irish National Opera, Wexford Festival Opera, Opera Theatre Company, Co-Opera, Glasthule Opera, and the Royal Irish Academy of Music, and has been musical director for productions at the Buxton Opera Festival, the Huddersfield Contemporary Music Festival and in Australia, Portugal and France. Active as an opera composer and arranger, Andrew also works with singing students at the Royal Irish Academy of Music as conductor and vocal coach.
