Junior Fellow in Piano Accompaniment

Applications are invited for two RNCM Junior Fellows in Accompaniment for the academic year 2017-18.  The auditions for the Junior Fellowships will take place at the RNCM on Thursday 29 June 2017. Prospective applicants should ideally have completed postgraduate accompaniment studies and already have a broad working knowledge of the vocal and instrumental duo repertoire. The Fellowships are worth £7,000 each and the successful applicants will be directed to work for 350 hours per annum with students and tutors across all the performance schools. The successful applicants will also receive 20 hours individual tuition per annum. Fellowships are for one year and Junior Fellows are expected to be resident in Manchester for the duration of the award.

Audition requirements:

  • Either a duo sonata movement or three contrasting songs (they may be part of a song cycle) – NB the RNCM is unable to provide duo partners for the audition
  • A short solo piano piece
  • Quick study
  • Sight-reading
  • Interview
