Joint Principal Flute

Joint Principal Flute

Wednesday, 7 August 2019, 5.00pm

The Philharmonia Orchestra are seeking applications for the position of Joint Principal Flute.

Successful applicants will be invited to audition and will need to prepare either Mozart D Major or G Major Concerto 1st Movement (no cadenza) as well as orchestral excerpts. Auditions will be held on Tuesday 17 & Thursday 19 September. An accompanist will be provided.

An audition for the Philharmonia usually lasts approximately 10-15 minutes for a Rank & File position, with numbered and Principal positions usually lasting longer. You will be required to perform prepared repertoire with an accompanist, followed by the orchestral excerpts for a panel of a minimum of two members of the Philharmonia. You may also be presented with a short sight reading test. You will receive the outcome of your audition up to a week following your audition. Please note that this format can vary at the discretion of the panel members and is by no means standard.
