ChamberFest Dublin 2019

ChamberFest Dublin 2019

Wednesday, 4 December 2019, 7.30pm

The Royal Irish Academy of Music is delighted to present the inaugural ChamberFest Dublin (Monday - Friday 13th December) helmed by RIAM Head of Strings and Chamber Music Sarah Sew. This exciting new festival will feature prominent British composer Sally Beamish as part of her week-long residency at the Academy, culminating in the performance of her poignant work Spinal Chords, set to a text by Times journalist Melanie Reid and dealing with her experience of spinal injury following an accident in April 2010. This concert, set in the awe-inspiring surroundings of the National Gallery of Ireland, will be the Irish début of cutting-edge new group Ensemble Interforma.

The fortnight full of events—from public masterclasses to lunchtime and evening concerts in venues such as The Space Between, Lost Lane, the National Gallery, and the beautiful Georgian rooms of the Academy itself—will celebrate the sheer breadth and diversity of Chamber Music repertoire, with RIAM musicians performing a rich palette of works by composers from Bach to Beamish and everything in between.

Admission to many of the events on the ChamberFest Dublin 2019 Programme is free of charge, and all can be booked at the box office below.

Supported by Michel Friocourt and The John Pollard Foundation.
