Notes & Narratives - Claire Keville: "Tis a terrible long time ago…" The concertina music of Connie Hogan
Connie Hogan is a forgotten hero of Irish concertina playing. This presentation by Claire Keville is a chance for new audiences to discover his music and situate it in a particular time and place; the place in question being a corner of South East Galway called Gorteeney, Woodford. The talk will feature recordings from 1950s and 1960s and contributions from people who knew him like accordionist Teresa Conroy Smullen and family members.
The talk will take place in 15 Henrietta Street, Dublin 1 and will start at 8:30pm on Thursday 10th March 2022. Admission is €10 (concession rate €5). Tickets are available through Eventbrite or contact the office at [email protected] or by phone +353-1-8730093. For those unable to attend in person, it will also be live streamed for free through our channel NPU-TV at https://pipers.ie/npu-tv/.
