KERN in Concert
Droichead is delighted to welcome back KERN to our stage this October. Weaving together various influences, prompted by their diverse formative experiences and sensibilities, their music is a distillation of reflective and skilfully executed traditional elements including a deep respect for native songlines, combined with fresh and often raw contemporary perspectives. Featuring songs from their latest album, The Left and the Leaving, including their new single, Great Hunger.
Kern – fiddler Barry Kieran, uilleann piper Brendan McCreanor and singer/songwriter/guitarist SJ McArdle – has a unique blend of styles which are reflected in the band’s extraordinary live show, bursting with energy and drama, but leavened with humour and the obvious joy the three musicians share in playing together. The band has honed the show by touring extensively, in Ireland, Canada, Germany and the US, taking in Other Voices, Milwaukee Irish Fest and Folk Alliance International in Montréal along the way and winning the 2018 Temple Bar TradFest showcase.
All shows must be booked in advance, there is limited capacity of only 40 seats available. Tickets are sold in pods of 2, 3, and 4, with every second row empty, and adhering to social distancing of 2m, for more details on our Covid protocols visit https://www.droichead.com/show/873620982
