Traditional Artist in Residence 2025 – University College Cork
The Arts Council and University College Cork (UCC) are accepting applications for the Traditional Artist in Residence position for 2025. This role offers a traditional artist, including musicians, singers, dancers, or oral arts practitioners, the opportunity to engage with the UCC community while developing their practice. The residency will run from January to December 2025.
Residency Structure:
• January to June 2025: The artist will engage with students and staff through workshops, mentoring, and other activities, with contact time limited to four hours per week.
• July to December 2025: The artist will focus solely on their creative practice.
The fee for the residency is €30,000, jointly funded by the Arts Council (€20,000) and UCC (€10,000). A dedicated workspace will be provided within UCC, but accommodation is not included.
Eligibility: Applicants must be professional practising artists in traditional arts and must provide a detailed proposal, an artist’s statement, and a CV (max. three pages).
Deadline: Applications must be submitted via email to [email protected] by 17:30 on Thursday, 24 October 2024. Late applications will not be considered.

• Potential impact on the artist’s practice
Shortlisted candidates will be interviewed in November 2024.
