Camerata Ireland was founded in 1999 by international pianist, conductor, educator and recording artist, Barry Douglas. His vision was to create a chamber orchestra of excellence to match the best in the world. Camerata Ireland brings together the finest Irish musicians to celebrate the wealth of musical talent from within the island of Ireland and it has has given performances throughout the USA and Europe, and in Asia.

Barry Douglas and Camerata Ireland have recorded all five of Beethoven’s piano concertos to much critical acclaim. This concert features No. 1 in C, dating from 1795 and showing Beethoven’s assimilation of the styles of Mozart and Haydn and also the celebrated Concerto No.5 in E flat, known as the Emperor, first performed by the composer in 1811 – unmistakably Beethoven.
