Kíla & Friends @ TradFest Temple Bar
For thirty years now Kíla have been thrilling live audiences across the globe and collecting accolades. Formed in Dublin Gaelic secondary school Coláiste Eoin in 1988, their ever-evolving sound, while rooted in tradition, is inspired by a myriad of musical influences worldwide. The members stem from differing musical backgrounds, including Irish traditional, classical, folk and rock but their sound comes together into a unique harmonious whole.
In a celebration of Dublin trad, Kíla will be joined by a host of friends for their TradFest Temple bar performance at the National Stadium including; Australian-Irish musician and producer Steve Cooney, tin whistle player Cormac Breatnach of the Donal Lunny Band, prolific Irish musician and flute player Alan Doherty, uileann pipe musician Éamon Galldubh, percussionist Robbie Harris and fiddle player Aoife Kelly of Irish music collective Jiggy, fiddle player and founding member of Danú Daire Bracken and tin whistle player Éamon de Barra of Slide. This stellar line up of Ireland’s top trad and folk musicians will have support on the night from Irish and African fusion folk quartet Pontún, as well as a featured performance from Belfast-based circus troupe Tumble Circus.
