For over 55 years, the Ulster Orchestra has been at the forefront of musical life and culture in Northern Ireland, with a mission to enrich lives and inspire. We strive for excellence in all we do, be it through our concert performances, learning and community-engagement programmes, or creative collaborations across the arts. We are proud of our partnership with the BBC, through which we broadcast regularly on radio and television, as well as performing live for the BBC Radio 3 invitational concert series and BBC’s Proms in the Park celebrations.
  
In 2019, the Ulster Orchestra appointed Daniele Rustioni as its Chief Conductor. He joins a distinguished line of past principal conductors including Bryden Thomson, Vernon Handley, Yan Pascal Tortelier, Dimitry Sitkovetsky, Thierry Fischer, Kenneth Montgomery, JoAnn Faletta and, most recently, Rafael Payare.

Under the leadership of the present incumbent, Richard Wigley, the Orchestra has undergone significant transformation and has extended its reach to new and diverse audiences. In light of Richard’s intention to leave the Orchestra later this year, we are now seeking a successor to continue to build on his achievements.

Reporting to the Board, and working closely with the Chief Conductor and Senior Management Team, you will focus on further raising the Orchestra’s profile both nationally and internationally and building relationships that bring new opportunities and revenue streams.

You will be a visionary leader with significant orchestral-management experience and a high ambition for artistic development, including expressing the Ulster Orchestra's distinctiveness. You will bring strong business acumen, with a clear grasp of financial management and corporate governance and excellent people-management skills. You will be committed to upholding and instilling our Core Values across the organisation, nurturing a culture of collaboration, inclusion, innovation and shared purpose.
