Eoghan Ó Ceannabháin & The Curly Organ
Black Gate presents Eoghan Ó Ceannabháin and The Curly Organ at An Taibhdhearc on Thursday, April 27th at 8pm. The event starts at 7:30pm, and tickets cost €20, with an early bird discount available for a limited time at €15.
Eoghan Ó Ceannabháin is a Dublin-based musician with roots in sean-nós singing. He has previously performed with various bands including Skipper’s Alley, Aon Teanga:Un Chengey, and Jiggy. In 2021, his album with Ultan O’Brien won Best Folk Album at the RTÉ Folk Awards. Ó Ceannabháin’s music draws from his Connemara singing tradition, with his richly textured voice bringing a sense of muscle, melancholy, and mellow reflection to his work.
The Curly Organ, Galway’s Sovereign-Prophet-Weirdo-In-Residence, will also perform a rare solo set at An Taibhdhearc. Known for his social-engagement happenings such as Catcalling Outside AIB and Tír na Micreafón, The Curly Organ’s unique Body-and-Mind Folk style aims to guide audiences through a museum of human experiences, both extreme and banal. The singer-songwriter’s aim is to create a sense of catharsis for himself and his audience, making this performance much anticipated.
