Lunchtime with ConTempo: Landscapes -

Tuesday, 1 November 2022, 1.10pm

Galway Music Residency’s Lunchtime with ConTempo series continues this November with a special performance entitled Landscapes: Music for guitar and string quartet, launching a new Guest Resident Artist programme. The performance takes place at 1:10pm on Tuesday 1 November in the stunning surroundings of St Nicholas’ Collegiate Church, Lombard St, Galway.

This expansive new collaboration sees internationally renowned Italian guitarist Marco Ramelli join forces with Galway Music Residency’s Ensemble-In-Residence, ConTempo Quartet, for six concerts of beautifully curated music this November and December.
On Tuesday 1 November, the programme will feature music from Italy, Romania and Ireland, including the world premiere of Irish composer Greg Caffrey's Cúig Sruthanna (five streams), Luigi Boccherini's Fandango, Paul Constantinescu's Presto and Ionel Doru Popovici's Byzantine Song, performed by Marco Ramelli and ConTempo Quartet.

Contempo Quartet is the resident ensemble of Galway Music Residency and was RTE’s Resident Quartet from 2014 until 2019. Praised as a “fabulous foursome” (Irish Independent) and noted for performances which are “exceptional” (The Strad) and “full of imaginative daring” (The Irish Times), ConTempo Quartet has forged a unique place in Irish musical life.

Entry to the concert is free, all are welcome. Booking is recommended through www.eventbrite.ie. Walk-ups also welcome.

Lunchtimes with ConTempo take place on the first Tuesday of the month and will continue in December. Galway Music Residency is proudly supported by NUI Galway (Education Partner), the Arts Council, and Galway City and County Councils. For further information, visit www.galwaymusicresidency.ie

*This concert will be repeated in Claregalway Castle on Sunday 20 November at 3:00pm.
