Associate Lecturer in Music Education

The University of York is hiring a Associate Lecturer in Music Education.

The post is offered as a full-time, open contract and will include teaching and administration duties. Candidates with experience in one or more of the following areas are particularly encouraged to apply: woodwind pedagogy; special educational needs; historically informed performance and pedagogy. Candidates should have the ability to situate their practice within rigorous cultural, theoretical and historical contexts.

You will deliver teaching (both practice-based and theory-led) on the MA in Music Education: Instrumental and Vocal Teaching and will also help to develop new types of teaching at MA level. You may also be required to contribute teaching and/or workshops for the BA Music and MA Music students.

You will supervise independent postgraduate projects in Music Education, with the opportunity to supervise independent undergraduate and postgraduate student projects in other areas of Music. Your administrative duties will involve participation in the departmental Board of Studies and relevant committees as well as activities related to pastoral care, student recruitment and public outreach.
