Slow Moving Clouds :: The Os Tour :: Gulpd Café, Cork

Saturday, 30 April 2016, 8.00pm

Plugd Events + Ensemble Music are proud to present the Cork date of their nationwide tour of Os, the debut album of Dublin based contemporary Irish/Nordic folk trio Slow Moving Clouds.

The Dublin-based contemporary Irish/Nordic folk trio are bringing their unique blend of traditional and contemporary, rich atmospheric sounds to venues throughout Ireland, including Belfast, Cork and Galway.

Their debut album Os, released late last year, has received outstanding reviews, being acclaimed as ::

‘rich, intriguing and accomplished’ Jim Carroll [The Irish Times] – his no. 10 album of 2015

‘This is an album – and band – who deserve the recognition for their extraordinary achievements’ Mark Carry [Fractured Air]

‘intriguing folk/trad of the highest order’ Tony Clayton-Lea [The Irish Times/Cara].

Creating a sound unlike anything you’ve heard before, Slow Moving Clouds combine roots in Nordic and Irish traditional music with minimalist and experimental influences.

The minds behind this trad/folk trio are:

Aki [nyckelharpa, vocals] :: a Dublin-based Finnish musician and artist who works in media ranging from film to visual art to music production and performance.

Danny Diamond[fiddle, strohviol] :: an Irish fiddle player who combines deep roots in the Irish tradition with an open mind for other influences.

Kevin Murphy [cello, vocals] :: a pioneering Irish cellist and multi-instrumentalist with a background in experimental acoustic music.
