County Kildare Orchestra 25th Anniversary Gala Concert
County Kildare Orchestra is delighted to present their 25th Anniversary Gala Concert in the Aula Maxima at Maynooth University. Founded 1998, we are proud of our achievements to date as we offer amateur musicians from Kildare and surrounding counties the opportunity to play orchestral music at a high level and bring classical and other musical genres to local audiences.
In the first half of our Gala Concert, the orchestra will perform excerpts from the fantastic ‘Pictures at an Exhibition’. Originally composed for piano by Modest Mussorgsky, it draws inspiration from various pictures painted by his friend and artist Viktor Hartmann. The concert will feature the orchestration done by Maurice Ravel based on the original piano composition.
We are delighted to welcome Eamonn Nolan from the RTE Concert Orchestra, who will perform the Arutiunian Trumpet Concerto accompanied by the orchestra. This will be a delight to all audiences but especially those with a love of the trumpet.
The second half of the show will be given over to singing. We are delighted to welcome well known soprano Emer Barry and tenor Eoin Hynes to take part in the celebrations. They will sing a number of old favourites accompanied by the orchestra, including The Prayer, Ellis Island (Isle of Hope, Isle of Tears), Nessun Dorma, All I Ask Of You, I Could have Danced All night, Time to Say Goodbye and I Dreamt I Dwelt in Marble Halls
This promises to be a very enjoyable evening's entertainment with something for everyone, so come along and celebrate with us.
