The Night Before Larry Got Stretched: Róisín White

Sunday, 2 June 2019, 9.00pm

The Night Before Larry Got Stretched will have its next session in The Cobblestone on Sunday 2nd June. We’re delighted to welcome Róisín White as the special guest singer.

Róisin was brought up in a musical family, in the foothills of the Mourne mountains, county Down. The rural community was close-knit in the 1950’s and 60’s and house-visiting, storytelling and songs
were a natural part of life .Her mother sang constantly and passed on her love of all aspects of Irish culture to her family.

Róisín spent her working life as a teacher of Irish language in Armagh city. She was fortunate to have met, and spent time with many of the great songsters and collectors e.g. her good friend Sarah Anne O’ Neill, Geordie Hanna, Joe Holmes etc. Róisín has been singing and gathering songs all her life. She has travelled extensively throughout these islands and further afield, as guest singer and workshop leader.

Róisín was awarded the TG4 Gradam ‘Amhránai na bliana’ Singer of the year 2015. She has recently published a tribute booklet dedicated to Robert Cinnamond, 1884- 1968, county Antrim. The product includes a reissue of the LP ‘You rambling boys of pleasure’ Topic records, along with a second CD of current-day singers, singing songs from Robert’s repertoire.

The session starts @ 9pm.
