From Europe with Love: The Highlights

Tuesday, 16 July 2019, 1.00pm

The Galway Music Residency’s ambitious three-year Lunchtime with ConTempo project entitled From Europe with Love has enthralled Galway audiences with its exploration of the shared musical heritage of the European Union. Year one concluded in June and explored the string quartet repertoire from nine of the 27 EU member countries. Speakers from the featured nations, embassies and local communities introduced each concert providing unique personal perspectives on the music to be performed. Due to popular demand, the Galway Music Residency is delighted to announce that it will present From Europe with Love: The Highlights on Tuesday 16th July at 1pm in St Nicholas’ Collegiate Church. Please note this earlier than usual start time.

This concert will celebrate the very best of the music featured in the series thus far, including music from Malta, The Netherlands, France, Czech Republic, Latvia and Italy all performed by Galway’s resident ensemble, ConTempo Quartet. Chair of GMR’s Artistic Committee, John Caulfield, will guide the audience through this varied programme of music with insightful introductions to the works. Take a break from the busy city streets and join ConTempo Quartet for journey through Europe.

Proudly supported by NUI Galway (Education Partner), the Arts Council, GMIT, and Galway City and County Councils, admission to this event is free, open to all and early arrival is recommended. From Europe with Love year two will commence on 3rd September 2019. The series will continue on the first Tuesday of each month (September-June excepting January) until June 2021.
