Time: Talk at 11am, limited 1:1 consultation slots available from 12:30pm-3:00pm
Location: The Cooler at The Complex, 12 Mary's Abbey, Dublin 7.

Each month, Improvised Music Company hosts Cooler Clinics - free CPD events and 1:1 consults. These sessions are an opportunity for jazz and improvising musicians to soundboard, discuss, strategise, and get guidance and feedback from the IMC team.

This month's clinic is focused about releasing music, with special guest Dermot Rogers.

Dermot Rogers presents 2 weekly radio shows (The Night Train and Jazz Time) on DublinCityFM, runs Livia Records and is a director of IMC. A lifelong music collector and aficionado, he has 40 years experience working in software and digital media. Now retired from the corporate IT world, Dermot is semi-retired and dedicating a lot of his time and energy to supporting music related matters, particularly in the jazz/improv space.

Dermot will present useful points from his experience in releasing music, covering areas including: reasons to release, production & post-production, local international promotion, legal matters, duplication and online distribution, funding, and the pros and cons of self-releases versus working with a label.

After the will be a presentation, there will be a limited number of 1:1 consultation slots to discuss releasing music with Dermot or one of the IMC, to cover specific plans or practical advice. You're also welcome to bring other career concerns to discuss with the IMC team.

We love meeting you and hearing all about your exciting projects!

What to Expect: Whether you have an established career or are just starting your journey, our Cooler Clinics are here to address your concerns and propel your career forward. Come with any question or discussion topic you like, whether digging into details of a funding application or bouncing ideas for a new project.

Registration: Sign up for the talk and/or for a 1:1 consultation

Access notes: The Cooler is up two flights of stairs and may be difficult to access for patrons with mobility issues. The space is fully seated. Gender-neutral toilet facilities are available upstairs (a few steps up from the level of The Cooler). Baby-changing facilities are available at The Gallery, downstairs at The Complex (using the Arran St entrance).

If you have any other queries regarding accessibility or require any accommodations for seating etc, please contact us at admin @ improvisedmusic . ie and we will do our best to assist you.

On request, we may be able to offer online access to the talk, and some online consultation slots at an alternative date.

About The Cooler: The Cooler is upstairs at The Complex Arts Centre, in the heart of Dublin 7. The Cooler is accessed via the Mary's Abbey door of The Complex (just off the LUAS tracks), NOT the Arran St East entrance to The Gallery. You can find the red wall which features ‘The Complex’ sign in large white letters, and The Cooler is accessed by the small blue door or the glass door on the blue wall.

During the day, the footpath and paving in front of The Complex can often be filled with fruit and vegetables from our neighbouring businesses - you can still access the Cooler at these times, don’t let the carrots be a barrier!

On Google Maps, search for The Cooler or The Depot at The Complex (the main performance space downstairs at The Complex). On Google Maps, the address for The Complex generally will bring you to the gallery on Arran St East.

The red line of the LUAS runs very close to The Cooler, taking the stop at Jervis St or at Four Courts. There is no customer parking available at The Complex. A small gated Dublin City Council car park can be accessed on Marys' Lane, around the corner at standard rates. Jervis Shopping Centre Car Park is also close by. Some street parking is available nearby - days and rates vary, please check signs.
