London Astrobeats Orchestra Perform The Police

Thursday, 1 August 2019, 8.30pm

They’ve sold out four shows at Jazz Café with their unique take on Talking Heads. Now, London Astrobeat Orchestra are taking their talents to new heights as they re-interpret the classic sounds of rock music legends The Police.

It’s been 40 years since The Police conquered the airways with their hybrid collection of new wave energy and reggae heat. Debut album 'Outlandos D'Amour' ruled the charts when it first appeared with hits like ‘Roxanne’; and tracks like ‘Message In A Bottle’ and ‘Walking On The Moon’ reached number one in 1979.

London Astrobeat Orchestra are a funky, rhythmic, hypnotic, anthemic, uplifting, groovy, percussive, smack on point, earth-shatteringly tight, live band. They comprise, quite honestly of the finest West African session musicians alive on this planet today, underpinned by the cross-continental rhythmic influences of legendary band leader and bass player Edd Bateman. Featuring Lingala singer and soukous aristocrat ‘King Fire’, blues rock and astropheric soundscaping guitarist and vocalist ‘Julian Burdock’, Guinean Master Griot kora player ‘Mosi Conde’ and the mbalax rhythm machine Badou N'Diaye.

They’ll be taking these classic pop anthems and lacing them with traditional African beat to produce an authentic, original and utterly unique experience for the listener.
