How I discovered this artist:

Why I gave the above rating:

The second single from emerging pop act CMAT, aka Ciara Mary-Alice Thompson, is just as catchy as her previous, ‘Another Day (kfc)’ and also centres around themes of love and rejection. The track begins with her singing acapella, ‘Why do you hate me, why? / Why do you hate me, why?’, in her smooth, projected vocals which have a dinstinctly retro vibe. The track continues with organ-like synth and an up-tempo pop beat, which has a steady and cyclical feel to it. It’s another perfect pop release from the new artist and its high production value, especially given CMAT’s relatively short time frame of releasing music, is promising. I’ve listened to this and ‘Another Day (kfc)’ too many times already, so I’m very excited to hear about an album release!
