La Buelga is a new five-piece ensemble of traditional musicians from Ireland and Asturias in northern Spain. Mining the rich history of music and song from these two Celtic nations, this group of renowned folk artists has developed an exciting live repertoire of dance tunes, songs and rhythmic explorations. Uilleann pipes from Ireland delve into the strong bagpipes tradition of this ancient region on the north Spanish coast, while Asturian fiddle and hand-percussion traditions imbue Irish dance tunes with their unique style. Songs of family, work and love are shared by the band resulting in a new musical expression between parallel folk traditions.

Supported by the Arts Council Ireland.

Rubén Bada (violin, bouzouki, vocals) & Leticia Baselgas (percussion, vocals), Ewan Cowley (guitar, mandolin, vocals), Mark Redmond (uilleann pipes and flute), Andy Reilly (bodhrán, vocals).
