In The Modern Lovers song ‘Girlfriend,’ open-hearted rock’n’roll minimalist Jonathan Richman sang, “If I was to walk through the Museum of Fine Arts in Boston…” Come join Ezra Furman as she follows in her hero’s footsteps and does just that.

Following the postponement or cancellation of the vast majority of Furman’s 2020 touring schedule, she set about plotting to bring you this special and intimate solo show, just her and her guitars and the songs she’s spent her life crafting.

This livestreamed concert film, directed by Ty Ueda and filmed against the stunning backdrop of the galleries of Boston’s Museum of Fine Arts, Furman will explore her catalogue to be broadcast to your screens—the outsider art of a rock’n’roll original bumping elbows with lauded works of American art from the 19th century. Asked about this juxtaposition, Ezra tells us, “I think my stuff can measure up to theirs.”

Through 5 critically acclaimed solo albums, 3 albums with her former band the Harpoons as well as creating the original soundtrack for the hit Netflix Original Series ‘Sex Education’, Furman has amassed an arsenal of critically acclaimed and much loved music. Condoleezza Rice once called her work “pretty important.” Her own work, that is. I don’t think she’s heard Ezra’s music, but if she did she might say something similar.

A portion of the proceeds of ticket sales from the show will be evenly distributed among life saving charities vetted by The Life You Can Save, a great organization that created a short list of the charitites that do the most to alleviate extreme poverty. Mere dollars save actual lives when you give to this list. As Ezra sang on "Evening Prayer" - time to do justice for the poor.
