The purpose of the Administrative Producer role is to support the Executive Producer for Theatre (EP) with the logistical and administrative elements of producing at The Roald Dahl Story Company (RDSC), with a particular focus on contractual support for creative development.

This job would suit a candidate with a track record at a producing theatre, who is used to supporting the commissioning and development of new work; a senior General Manager in theatre; or a candidate who has significant experience at a literary agency managing writers’ commissions, license agreements, and relationships with producers. There is scope for growth within this role as our productions develop.

You must:
– Have a minimum of five years working in theatre (in a professional capacity) within a producing, licensing, or contracts manager role
– Have experience of either subsidised or commercial theatre sector in the UK
– Have experience of producing at least three events or productions
– Have strong contractual skills including drafting and noting contracts
– Be able to evidence familiarity with Writers’ Agreements and Directors’ Agreements such as SOLT/Equity and/or UK Theatre/Equity
– Have an enthusiasm for the contractual, administrative and logistical elements of producing
– Be a Roald Dahl fan who understands the power of the canon and the strength of the brand
– Have commitment to equality, diversity and representation
– Have a keen eye for detail, works with rigour and persistence
– Have strong interpersonal skills, as well as the ability to work successfully within a small team, and collaboratively with other RDSC departments
– Have the ability to work independently and confidently adapt to a fast-moving business
– Have strong verbal and written communication skills
– Have excellent Microsoft Office skills, including Excel

In addition, it would be interesting to know if you are able to bring any of the following (although very much not essential):
– Knowledge of story-telling and/or literary festivals sector
– Knowledge of emerging theatre creatives, in particular artists from diverse backgrounds, and artists from other disciplines who may be new to theatre
– Understanding of music publishing
– Experience of rights management
– Experience of Broadway and/or theatre in international territories
