Competition for Young Composers

To stimulate the minds of budding Irish composers during the current time, the New Ross Piano Festival is delighted to announce a Composition Competition, aimed at 15–21 year olds based on the island of Ireland.

Eligibility:
Entrants must be aged between 15–21 and resident on the island of Ireland.

There are two age categories:
Category 1: 15–18 year olds
Category 2: 19–21 year olds

Ages are reckoned from May 1st 2020

Requirements:
The compositions should have a duration of between three and four minutes and should be for piano solo (no electronics, no prepared piano).

Prizes:
The winner of Category 1 will receive €200. The winner of Category 2 will receive €300. Each of the winning compositions will be performed at the New Ross Piano Festival in September 2020.

How to apply
All compositions must be submitted in PDF format and emailed to info [at] newrosspianofestival.com by 5.00pm on Friday 15th May 2020.

Entrants must include their full name, email address, phone number, postal address and date of birth when submitting their compositions.

The compositions will be judged by the festival’s Artistic Director Finghin Collins and results will be announced on our website by Sunday 31st May 2020.
